Plus, with these headphones, you don’t have to deal with any of those unattractive cords.

The wide band might not appeal to absolutely everyone, but it does still stick with that 80’s feel. These headphones will work with Bluetooth A2DP or even apt-X Bluetooth audio codec. Grow an electronic family tree for your health

Grow an electronic family tree for your health

Share Print Font: +-WASHINGTON — It happens all the time: Filling out that clipboard at the doctor's office, you can't remember what cancer killed Aunt Sally or when Dad had his heart attack.
A good family health history is far more important than a gene test in predicting your future medical needs, but it's hugely underused. On Tuesday, the government begins offering a free new service to try to change that — helping people compile one at home, e-mail it to relatives who can fill in the gaps, and even pop it straight into their doctors' computers.
Quiz enough extended family about who battled what disease, and you can fill it out in as little as 20 minutes.
"That is an amazingly positive investment," Acting Surgeon General Steven Galson, whose office spearheaded the new initiative, told The Associated Press. "You're going to help your doctor learn a lot more about you by spending those 20 minutes, and you can share that invested time around your family and with your physicians way into the future."
The goal: Just as people create ancestral family trees, create a family health tree. It may sound old-fashioned in this era of gene discovery. But genetics specialists use these "pedigrees" to look for patterns of inherited illnesses that can provide a powerful window on someone's brewing health risks.

"Family health history is the first genetic test but it encompasses much more than genes," says James O'Leary of the nonprofit Genetic Alliance.

eMachines Mini-e Home Entertainment Center

eMachines Mini-e Home Entertainment Center

eMachines has rolled out one of the zanier small form factor desktops to date, known as the Mini-e Home Entertainment Center. Don’t be surprised by its size – it might be as small and thick as a small book, but it packs quite a punch where home theater PCs are concerned. Featuring a unique glossy black diamond shaped chassis that seemingly “floats” in a matte silver pedestal, it is capable of emitting a soft ambient green glow along the lower edge for that added touch of class whenever it is powered and ready to go. The eMachines Mini-e measures 7.1″ in diameter, tipping the scales at a mere 9 pounds which would make it rather dangerous for you to have a cat or lumbering dog around the home since either one could easily knock over the Mini-e while it is running. More on it in the extended post.

The slim and compact Mini-e ER1402 will certainly be more than able to offer full HD multimedia entertainment as well as every day computing capabilities, making it suitable not only in the living area but in the study as well, especially if you’re starved for space. After all, with its capability of being able to be snapped onto the back of most monitors or TVs, is portability at home personified. It doesn’t require a genius to get the entire setup up and running, while built-in 802.11 b/g/n wireless connectivity makes it a snap to get on the Internet straightaway. With its HDMI interface, you can hook it up to a large screen TV while an S/PDIF port allows the system to digitally connect to a home audio system. Other hardware that comes with it include a wireless keyboard and mouse, letting you play popular Flash-based social media games, surf the web, view and edit photos, stream video content from Netflix or Hulu, or watch HD movies comfortably from the sofa.

It will run on the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system, with an AMD Athlon II NEO processor making sure the proceedings go on smoothly. Graphics-wise, an NVIDIA GeForce 9200 graphics card ought to do the job just fine, while 2GB RAM is available for the Mini-e ER1402 to handle basic, everyday computing tasks, which include (but are not limited to) word processing, VOIP calls, email, spreadsheets or managing family finances. Other features include a quartet of USB 2.0 ports, a multi-in-one digital media card reader and a 160GB hard drive. At $299.99 a pop, this is definitely worth considering if you’re looking for a casual computer in your home.

Acer Aspire AS8943G ready to hit the US

Acer is already part of the world’s second largest manufacturer of notebooks, and will aim to further augment their position with the introduction of the new Acer Aspire AS8943G. When it comes to portable entertainment, you will find a brilliant CineCrystal 18.4″ edge-to-edge glass LED back-lit display with full high-definition (1080p) resolution, capable of delivering stunningly rich lifelike audio and visuals. What’s visuals without great audio? The Dolby optimized Acer CineSurround sound system with five built-in speakers and a dedicated subwoofer handles the job perfectly, while a Blu-ray drive will make sure your eyes receive razor sharp visuals on the display’s 16:9 aspect ratio.

Processing power is also not forgotten as the Aspire AS8943G Series notebooks will run on the Intel Core i7 Quad Core Processor with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, while being aided by at least 4GB RAM, which is expandable to 16GB if you are looking for extraordinary speed. Not only that, graphically-speaking, the AS8943G will not disappoint at all with the ATI Mobility Radeon HD5850 Graphics card with 1GB of dedicated video memory full well capable of offering full DirectX 11 support in order to handle the latest 3D games with aplomb. Prices start from $1,549.99 upwards, so if you want a multimedia powerhouse for a notebook, this could very well fit the bill.

As for the “Hospitality Edition”, it will feature a highly customizable set of features, making it ideal for luxury hotels and resort brands. Solar Camera Strap

Solar Camera Strap
If you like to take a whole lot of outdoor pictures until your battery dies and your neck ends up beat red, then this is the camera strap for you. It actually uses all that power the sun usually is using just to give you a nasty sunburn and charges your camera with it. The whole strap has a large flexible solar panel on it that’s just waiting to soak up a little sun.

This design was created by Weng Jie. It could be used for those times when you need power for big events and don’t happen to have a spare battery handy. You could even just lay it out in a window when you’re not taking pictures to charge it up other times. Sadly, right now this is just a concept design, so it can’t be purchased just yet.

Camera Bag Disguised As Purse
When it comes to carrying around a DSLR camera, it typically means that you’re going to need a serious bag. The sad thing is that not a whole lot of those bags are all that exciting. The best is usually a bookbag and that isn’t exactly fashionable. If you’re female and want something that looks good, this camera bag just looks like your average oversized purse. That also means that it won’t be quite so obvious that you’re carrying around an expensive camera.

The Nevis Camera Bag has all of the usual soft compartments that you’d see in a DSLR bag. It has room for your camera, an extra short lens, a longer lens and even a flash. There is also a small strip of room that will fit your wallet and even a couple of medium sized notebooks. All around it definitely makes sure that it uses that space well. The lining is water-resistant and the outside is full-grain pebbled cowhide leather. It has 4 exterior and 3 interior pockets. The soft closed-cell foam padding is completely customizable. You can purchase one in either black or brown for $329 through  ONA

The Monster Vision Max 3D glasses will feature a stylish and lightweight high-gloss black design which enables users to wear them for hours without experiencing any fatigue, a common problem that plagues a fair number of people who have seen 3D movies in theaters to date. The Monster Vision “Max 3D” eyeglasses and transmitter kit are scheduled for availability this coming September with a recommended retail price of $249.95 per set. If you happen to have a large family, you can always pick up additional Monster Vision Max 3D Eyeglasses for $169.95 per pair.

Since it is able to play nice with any 3D-ready television set regardless of manufacturer, you can be sure that peripherals like this will further drive the sales of 3D HDTVs up by at least a notch as home theater enthusiasts look forward to new experiences in their living rooms.

Bringrr helps you not forget your cell phone

Bringrr helps you not forget your cell phone

This next device is quite similar to the ZOMM in the sense that it can help you not forget your keys.

Like the ZOMM, the Bringrr is able to sync wirelessly to your cellular phone via Bluetooth. Unlike the ZOMM, it appears to be designed to say in the car, and use on of the cigarette lighter outlets as a power source.

So, if you get in the car, and you forget your cellular phone, the Bringrr will sound an alarm. Then you can stop your car, get out and get your phone and be on your way before you miss some important phone call.

You will notice how I keep comparing the Bringrr to the ZOMM. I guess that until now, I thought the ZOMM was really the only product of its type. Something tells me that this product will not be the last of its type.

As long as people keep forgetting their cellular phones, there will always be a product designed to prevent it. And the company that makes these products will make a profit, hopefully.

So how much would you pay not to lose your cellular phone? How about $35, because that is about the cost. I don’t think I’ve lost my cell before, but it did get busted up, and it cost $50.00 to replace. I suppose $35 is a small price to pay to avoid a similar bad experience.

Solar Spark Lighter

Solar Spark Lighter

This is one of those camping gadgets that is interesting and if you could get used to the change, could be very handy. It’s not something that’s really an option in an area lacking light, but if you have a whole lot of sunlight it’ll save you from having to carry around a constant supply of matches. Plus, unlike matches if something liquid spills in with your camping gear, it can still be used.

It’s made of stainless steel and is therefore very durable, so it can handle those harsh conditions. Plus it can be used time and time again unlike other fire starters like lighter fluid. The disk itself uses a parabolic mirror and the shape makes it so the light is focused in a small area. That makes it so that it will catch anything on fire that is between the two prongs. It can even be used for frivolous things like incense. It’s pocket size and can be purchased for $19.95This is one of those camping gadgets that is interesting and if you could get used to the change, could be very handy. nnpu offers first wired cell phone in the world

nnpu offers first wired cell phone in the world

When you mention cell phone, what is the first image that comes in to your mind? Most of us would think of snazzy iPhones as well as the ever more popular Android-powered handsets, not to mention those living in developing countries with their Nokias. Innpu bucks the trend this time round by offering a wired handset that they call a cell phone as well, making us wonder in amazement as to a seeming regression in terms of technological advancement in this day and age. What’s so special about this wired cell phone, you ask? Well, it is the the of its kind in the world that comes with built-in retractable headphones. Whenever you receive a phone call, all you need to do is pull out the built-in headphone line and start yakking away. Of course, whenever the call is done and over with, the headset and headphones will automatically retract – now how cool is that? This mechanism was thrown into the mix because Innpu wants to reduce the risk of cell phone radiation to the user’s head, while freeing up both hands of the user at the same time.

From the outside, the built-in retractable headphone module might seem to be an extremely simple form factor, but it is very different in real life since it is rather quite technical. Innpu actually spent the better part of 5 years to gather multi-national technology experts for the development of polymer materials, new composite materials, and a continuous innovation process, just so that they can release a device that surpasses ordinary headphone winding capability, which now allows their wired cell phone to wind up to ten thousand times during the handset’s service life, while overcoming obstacles such as module size constraints that can affect ease of use and speed.

Innpu’s wired cell phone is said to be made available worldwide in due time, and the future could be very different with this technology being extended to other devices out there such as netbooks, notebooks, the iPad and small mobile network terminals, not to mention portable media players.

Energenie kills power to gadgets for you

Energenie kills power to gadgets for you
When it comes to energy conservation there are a whole lot of small gadgets that you can choose from. There are several that do nothing more than let you know just how much energy is being sucked away by leaving the device plugged in all the time. Hey, if it works to motivate you then it’s worth it to have the stats handy. However, if that’s not quite enough for you, this Energenie does a lot of the work for you.

Like many of the other devices to control your appliances and electronics, you just plug the appliance into the energy saver and then it plugs into the outlet. The big benefit with this gadget is that once it detects that a device has gone into that famous standby mode, it will just cut off all power to it. The possibilities are endless with this one, you can attach it to anything from your TV onto the smaller gadgets like your CD player. You can purchase one of these for £13.99 or about $20 through Nigel’s

Belkin Conserve monitors appliance energy usage

Belkin Conserve monitors appliance energy usage

It’s tricky knowing just how much energy each of your devices uses. You can make a guess at it, but sometimes it helps a whole lot more to know for sure. Besides, it might help motivate you and your family to start unplugging items when they’re not in use. This small gadget monitors how much electricity is consumed and the watts, so you’ll know where your major energy sucking appliances are located.

You just plug in your gadget of choice into the Belkin monitor and it’ll keep track. Not only that, but with this you’ll be able to compare how much energy that expensive light bulb is actually saving. It’ll also let you know the actual dollar cost of keeping that device operating. You can purchase this one for $29.99 through Amazon. Although it’s not released just yet, so you’ll have to wait a little while for it to be shipped.

Belkin Conserve Valet

Belkin Conserve Valet

Most of the time to charge my cell I’ll just plug it into the charger and leave it all night. It’s just the easiest way to do things, even if it’s not the most intelligent as far as energy use goes. Those of you that charge a lot at night, but want to conserve energy should check out this Belkin gadget. It’ll still allow for you to sleep while it’s charging, but it won’t drain power like many other chargers.

Most of us already have heard that most chargers will continue to suck power, whether or not your phone is plugged into the charger. Well this Belkin Conserve Valet is a USB charging station that automatically shuts down once the gadgets using the valet are fully charged. Plus it has the added benefit of helping you cut down on cords. You can purchase this for $39.99. Although as of now this is in the pre-order stage of things.

iSnapMe helps you take pics of yourself

iSnapMe helps you take pics of yourself

Anyone that’s attempted to take a picture of themselves knows how many gray hairs it’s capable of causing. When you’re always trying to take pictures of you and a friend when no one else is around it can be a little tricky and apparently it’s worse for those of you using an iPhone. Of course I wouldn’t know, I swear I’m not bitter. Well this quick little mirror trick makes it possible to take pictures without causing you nearly as much stress.

It just suctions onto the back of your iPhone, then using a mirror you’ll be able to keep track of how well you’re doing. Now they do say it’ll still take a little practice to get used to the method, but once you’ve got it down you’ll be taking great pictures every single time. You can watch a video through the manufacturer that gives you an idea on how it works. To pick one up it’ll cost you $19.95.

Flexible Speaker for the iPhone

Flexible Speaker for the iPhone

Speakers tend to be bulky, and even though they are portable, they do take up a fair amount of space. The Flexible Speaker for the iPhone idea takes a totally different role however, where it resembles more like a hanging charm over the iPhone thanks to the clever use of “Flat Flexible Laminated, (FFT) Loudspeaker technology”. Basically, FFT technology is paper-thin and foldable, where the latter aspect is absolutely vital to the cause since each unfold of the connecting speaker will enable the total volume level to increase – is that clever or what? From the concept, it looks as though there is some sort of paper thin battery juicing up the device as well, but we’ll never know until concept becomes reality.

PlayStation Move motion controller now official at E3

PlayStation Move motion controller now official at E3

E3 is the mecca for video game news, and it is a no brainer for companies to roll out their latest and greatest efforts in glitzy press conferences to keep hardcore gamers happy. Well, Sony has upped the ante with their latest announcement of the PlayStation Move motion controller at E3 this year, bringing motion control capability to their PS3 console. It is rather ironic that they have jumped aboard the motion control bandwagon after pooh poohing Nintendo’s efforts last time when the Wii was launched, dubbing those “waggle controls”. Guess they have seen the light and realized that gaming has certainly gotten a whole lot more immersive these days with a little help from motion controls, so why not pair that feature up with stunning visuals that are only available on the Sony PS3?

Those living in Europe as well as other PAL territories, alongside Asian countries will be able to pick up the PlayStation Move controller for 39.99 Euros. As for most of the folks reading this who are living in North America, it will hit the market this coming September 19th for $49.99, while our friends living in the Land of the Rising Sun will have to wait until October 21 to get their hands on it for 3,980 yen inclusive of tax. The PlayStation Move navigation controller is a one-handed controller which can be used alongside the motion controller for intuitive navigation of in-game characters and objects, will also hit the market on the same day in each region for 29.99 Euros, $29.99 and 2,980 yen, respectively. That should leave you ample time to save up for these accessories, don’t you think so?

There will also be a PlayStation Move bundle that comprises of a PlayStation Move motion controller, PlayStation Eye camera, Sports Champions Blu-ray disc game and PlayStation Move demo disc for a shade under $100, while those who are more adventurous can check out the PlayStation 3 Sports Champion Move Bundle that will see a PS3 system thrown into the mix alongside a PlayStation Move motion controller, PlayStation Eye Camera, Sports Champions Blu-ray game and PlayStation Move game demo disc, all going for $399.99 Of course, those who prefer to get the accessories individually are more than welcome with the PlayStation Eye camera being sold separately for $39.99.

High Heel Speakers

High Heel Speakers

If you’re a woman who seriously loves her heels or just any general person with a serious foot fetish, now you can have a pair of speakers to show off your real love in the world. These bright red shoes are sure to attract all sorts of attention, so you’d better be ready to come out of the closet with your foot or shoe loving tendencies.

You may think it’s incredibly strange for anyone to create speakers like this, much less have anyone buy them, but there’s something you should know. The speakers are Japanese, nuff said. The USB speakers have an output of 3W x 2ch. Should you be highly interested in getting a pair, they’re not the cheapest USB speakers out there. They cost 4480 Yen or about $55, plus the amount of shipping it costs to get them outside of Japan.

USB LED Desk Lamp Plus Fan

USB LED Desk Lamp Plus Fan

Having a small desk usually means you have to sacrifice some of the things you’d like to keep around or you’re going to have to use up floor space. If you need a fan and a light, but don’t have the room you could always get a fan to sit on the floor and a lamp for your desk. Then again, you could also use one of these USB lamps that doubles as a fan. Of course, it might help if you prefer bright flowery gadgets, because this is the only version of the fan up for sale.

To keep it powered the combination gadget just plugs into your normal USB port. There is one tiny detail that they mention at the very very bottom of the product specs, you cannot actually work the fan and light at the exact same time. That means you’ll have to choose between light and cooling yourself off. At least it’s mildly cooler at night when you’ll need the light the most. If you’re still interested despite that little snag, you can pick one of these up for $16 through Gadget 4 All.

HTC Aria available from AT&T on June 20

HTC Aria available from AT&T on June 20

HTC looks like it is up to more smartphone tricks than just the EVO 4G. Take a look at the HTC Aria, and you will notice that it bears a strong resemblance to EVO.
The HTC Aria will be available from AT&T, and it will be available on June 20, which is Father’s Day. That is about four days before another big phone from AT&T is scheduled to appear. I’m talking about the iPhone 4, in case you need more than a subtle hint. By the way, you can pre-order the iPhone 4 from Best Buy tomorrow.
As for specs, the HTC Aria has a 3.2 inch screen, similar to that of the Legend. It has Sense UI and Android 2.1, and no word of any updates to Froyo, or Android 2.2. It also has a 600 MHz Qualcomm MSM 7227 processor, 512 MB of ROM, as well as a 5 Megapixel camera with LED Flash.
The Aria is WiFi capable with more than 20,000 hotspots across the United States. It also is compatible with AT&T’s High Sped Pack Access (HSPA) 7.2 Mbps technology for a boost to 3G speeds.
As I’ve said before, the HTC Aria will be out just in time as a gift to your Dad, for about $129 with a $100 mail-in rebate.
